Rajma Chawal

Rajma  Chawal

Ingredients

Rajma / Red Kidney Beans - 1 cup
3 finely chopped ripe tomatoes
1 finely chopped onion
Grated ginger - 1 tsp
Finely chopped Garlic - 1 tbsp
Carom seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
Cooking oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing

Method

1) Soak rajma in water overnight. Add Rajma with 4 cups of water and turmeric powder in a pressure cooker and cook it by giving 4-5 whistles. Remove it from the cooker and keep it aside.
2) Heat the cooker and when its dry add oil to it. When the oil is warm add cumin seeds, carom seeds, garlic, ginger and onion.
3) When the onions are golden brown add chopped tomatoes to it. Fry it for few minutes till the tomatoes are nicely cooked and mashed.
4) Now add cooked Rajma, garam masala, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt and give 2-3 whistles till Rajma is nicely cooked. If you feel the rajma is too dry add little more water.
5) Now transfer it into a bowl and garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it hot with rice or roti.
