Alu Vadi /Colocasia leaf roll
Ingredients:
5 tender colocasia leaves

For making paste :

    1 cup gram flour
    ½ tbsp chili powder
    ¼ tbsp turmeric powder
    1 tbsp coriander powder
    ½  tbsp cumin powder
    ½ tbsp tamarind paste
    1 tbsp sesame seeds
    asafoetida 1 tbsp jaggery
    salt to taste
    Oil


Method
 Carefully wash and clean the colocasia leaves.
    Dry them and remove the stems.
    In a container mix 1 cup gram flour, ½ tbsp chili powder, ¼ tbsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp coriander powder, ½ tbsp cumin powder, ½ tbsp tamarind paste, 1 tbsp sesame seeds, 1 tbsp jaggery , asafetida, salt to taste.
    Mix it well and add enough water to make a paste.
    Select the big leaf out of them all and lay it on a flat surface facing waxy surface down.
    Start spreading the layer of flour paste allover the leaf.
    Now put another leaf on top of it and again spread the paste.
    Repeat the same procedure for all remaining leaves.
    Wrap the leaves to make a roll.
    In a steamer, allow leaf roll to cook for 15 minutes.
    Let it cool for some time and cut it into small pieces.
    Now heat the oil in frying pan and shallow fry them on both sides till they become crispy brown.
    Serve hot as a evening snack or as a side dish with lunch or dinner.
